Education: St Peter’s Junior & Infants, Abersychan Comprehensive, Pontypool College, University of Glamorgan.
Work: Primary Care Contracts Manager with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. More than 24 years’ experience of working at management level in the NHS on a range of initiatives to improve patient health outcomes in partnership with GPs, community pharmacists, acute sector, local authorities and the third sector.
Hobbies/interests: Passionate about campaigning for Blaenavon and its people - believes being a councillor has been a rewarding and privileged form of public service and hopes to have made a difference to the quality of local people's lives and prospects by ensuring the Council provides the right services for Blaenavon, and that people’s views are heard and taken into account. Hobbies include walking, reading, swimming, learning about the history of Blaenavon and socialising.
Achievements: Blaenavon Town Councillor for more than 10 years; former Trustee and member of the Workmen's Hall Committee for over five years, having been one of the team that worked to get the digital cinema established by raising funds for the cinema, which included organising social events, weddings and other functions.
What do you think is the best thing about living in Blaenavon? “I consider it an honour to live in Blaenavon, encircled by stunning scenery, countryside, history and many attractions including Big Pit, the Ironworks and Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway; World Heritage Site; lots of events and businesses in the town and surrounding areas; wonderful community and great friends; new school and leisure centre; new health and wellbeing centre; Workmen’s Hall, which includes cinema, snooker room and Museum; Heritage Centre and Library; many sports and social groups; churches and chapels; hotel and other public houses.”
