Wyvern Comprehensive School, Weston-super-Mare; National Sea School Gravesend; Cardiff College of Food Technology; Brunel Technical College Bristol; Weston Technical College.


Merchant Navy - First Baker on QE2; supermarket bakery manager; national technical bakery sales manager with RHM frozen Bakery; area manager running national contract for the Probation Service; self-employed photographer and chef. Trained to be a NVQ Assessor and taught catering and hospitality services within the adult sector.  

Moved to Blaenavon and set up Artie Craftie/ Blaenavon Post Office.


The colour purple and being ‘an independent-Independent’; kite buggying; camping and the outdoor life; gardening;  cooking; community life;  Chair of the LAG Rural Development Programme for Torfaen;  Member of Blaenavon World Heritage Committee and Blaenavon Town Team.


Sailed around the world seven times, first when just 17; met Sir Harry Secombe after winning Diabetic Chef of the Year 1986; saving Blaenavon Post Office and winning Independent Post Office of the year in 2017 and 2018 and English and Welsh Government awards for Customer Service.
