Are you someone who’s passionate about Blaenavon?
The Town Council has made award-winning progress since it was formed in May 2017. We’re proud of our success, and we’re looking for a new member who’ll work equally as hard in returning our residents’ investment.
Due to the retirement of former Cllr Phyllis Roberts, the Council will be co-opting on a new member and is inviting applications from interested candidates to fill the vacancy.
We know our residents care deeply about our town and we’re pleased that 11 passionate and hardworking people – many of whom also have full-time jobs - are currently on board. We’re looking for someone with a sound knowledge and understanding of local affairs and the local community. They should also be a good team player who is forward thinking and wants to help the Council to continue to make good progress with our plans.
The Council’s current composition includes people from backgrounds such as lecturing and teaching, nursing and NHS management, law, journalism, public administration, the armed forces, business development, catering and hospitality, heavy industry and shopkeeping/trading.
We have a diverse range of occupations and former professions and we’re hoping for someone who can bring a new skill, expertise or key local knowledge such as experience of working with voluntary and or local interest groups.
If you have the time and commitment to come along and contribute to our decision-making and plans for the community,
please see the application form below.
Closing date for application is midday on September 7, 2020.
The suitable candidates will be invited to attend the September Full Council Meeting for a five minute presentation to members.
See documents below for more information and application form.
